Dun-Good Riders Trail Update 11/28/23 – The Dun-Good trails are open to ATV/UTV unfortunately the little bit of snow we received it will be a while before trails open for snowmobile. Gates are all open from the Deer Gun season however remain cautious and courteous, Muzzle Load season is open for another week. One other reminder, as of dusk on 11/30/23 all lettered county highways close for ATV/UTV traffic and will remain closed until dawn on 5/1/24. Summer grooming operations have ended so the trails are what they are until we get snow to fill in the holes and ruts. Ride safe and stay right.
Hi, my name is Karl Miller and I am the president of the Jackson county (Wisconsin)atv association JCATV. I am hoping I could get some information about the “UTV” impact on the trails, here in Jackson county. The County and State (some of the trails are in the state forest) control and groom all the trails in the county. The trails are currently closed due to no snow and will not open until the trails are groomed for snowmobiles and will only be open to snowmobiles and ATV’s but not SXS.
The claim is that the SXS are too heavy for the system to support a good trail in the winter. This is not good for businesses in the area, I would like to get your opinion on the mixing of SXS, ATV’s and snowmobiles and is there a huge impact on the trail conditions.
As you must know the popularity of the SXS is huge and growing and I am looking for supportive information to try and get the county to open trails in the winter for UTV’s. THANKYOU. ps. I ride your trails numerous times throughout the year and must say they are some of the best that I have been on.
